Color Hues #93

  • by

Tracey has chose perfect summer colors for the new Color Hues Challenge.

Ch #93 Orange and Yellow.001

I pulled out an old favorite for some bright and cheerful Coneflowers by Honey Bee. The layers and size of the florals make a big impact on an A2 sized card.

Catherine Pooler’s Chic Chevron coverplate made a good background for the florals. I added a sentiment stamped in dark brown and fussy cut from Pinkfresh Studio’s Friendship Blooms stamp set.

The colors in the photos are quite a bright as they are in real life–a too frequent result of living in an old house with limited light. I added a few yellow enamel dots was the only embellishment.

I hope you’ll join us at the Color Hues Challenge. The gallery is open until August 29th so there’s lots of time to create with us!

  1. Karen, these coneflowers [or Brown-eyed Susans as we call them] were the first flower to pop into my brain when I saw the Color Hues for this challenge! Such a gorgeous card!

  2. Oh, how gorgeous those flowers look, Karen! The textures and colors are wonderful and I love the EF you chose too. I’m not good at fussy cutting sentiments – yours looks perfect!

  3. Perfect direction to take with this color combo, Karen. I love the background almost as much as the Coneflowers. I like Michele, thought of these flowers right away and then opted for Halloween at the last minute. Gorgeous card.

  4. Your beautiful flowers appear to have popped through the background just like they might naturally in the garden! A perfect combo for the challenge.

  5. Your cone flowers look fab in the colours Karen. My rudbekias are fully out in the garden but the helianthemums are just showing colour, sadly summer is coming to and end when these beauties flower. 🙂

  6. Your absolutely gorgeous flowers reminded me that I need to pull out those dies and use them. What a beautiful card, Karen! The flowers looks amazing against the chevron background.

  7. I haven’t used this die set in SOOOOOO LOOOOONG, and after seeing your card, I’m wondering why I didn’t think to use this set?!! Your yellow and orange cone flowers just couldn’t be any prettier and I love, LOVE your background too! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)

  8. Your flowers are so beautiful in the challenge colors and I love the background die! Your fussycutting of the sentiment looks so good I thought it was die cut!

  9. Gorgeous coneflowers (still hoping mine will bloom…everything is so late this year) that really take center stage. Love this!

  10. This is stunning Karen!!! I know these are probably a summer floral but this card is giving me autumn vibes. Love!
