Since the full moon tonight was supposed to be the largest in the last 20 years, Tracy and I decided to go out and see what we could do to capture a photo. It was freezing (just a little over 32°) so we weren’t willing to stay out too long. I had some notes from my friend Barbara about good settings to try. Another time I would use the remote, but I didn’t have the camera set for it and it was so dark in the field near our community garden that I just stuck with the tripod. It would also be nice to have a longer lens, but that’s not happening! Nonetheless I’m pretty happy with this shot, and most of all, I’m glad I saw it. As we drove over the moon appeared HUGE and bright yellow, but quickly diminished in size.
As I went to bed last night the moon was rising in the east – that is where we have our enormous entry windows, it was spectacular and not yellow at all – I noticed it was bright white!
I thought that a photo would be good but didn’t have the tripod in an easily accessible place so left it at that!
Wow, great photo! Thanks for sharing.
It’s too cloudy and rainy tonight, but last night it did seem very big and somewhat oval in shape!

WOW, when I first saw the photo, I thought it was fake. That is such a cool photo! I hope you’re feeling better and the pain has lessened.
Amazing color! So glad you got out and enjoyed the super moon.
That’s a great photo. We noticed it last night too when we were driving home after dinner.
I also tried for some shots last night, but my vantage point, without leaving home, means shooting through tree branches. I haven’t uploaded them yet to see if I got anything decent. Yours is great!
Hi Karen! Just had to tell ya I love your blog! Your photography is stunning and your cards are always so elegant! I received your email about the Big Brush markers—can’t find a link to email you so I will write my response here. Sure hope you don’t mind! 🙂
It takes a while to get used to the india ink of the markers- it dries fast and is quite wet when working directly on paper. I find it helps to lightly spritz my stamp with water before coloring directly on the stamp. Or even dab your stamp with a baby wipe before coloring on it. You will not always get a perfect impression-often it is a watercolor effect. If you want to make the impression more crisp, I often shade it on the paper after stamping with another marker. When coloring directly on paper, my paper “tears up” a little, too. I don’t mind the effect but if you want something smoother try coloring on watercolor paper. Great video on that here: http://designmemorycraft.typepad.com/design-memory-craft/2011/03/shine-brightly-big-brush-gelato-card-video-tutorial-from-scrap-time.html
I haven’t had a problem with my Memento ink bleeding–have you tried hitting yours with a heat gun right after stamping it to be sure it is dry?
Hope this helps and sorry to leaves such a LONG comment. Thanks for visiting my blog, too! Let me know if I can help in any other way. HUGS!
Karen this picture is just fabulous. x
Gorgeous. Wish we’d been able to see it here. Too much cloud and rain, alas. But delighted to share it vicariously. 🙂
That is one classy photo Karen.
We couldn’t see it here either.
