Color Hues #75

  • by

The calendar page has turned again. Because we were away for 11 days, the month sped by more quickly than ever. But today marks the beginning of a new Color Hues Challenge–chosen by Julie B. this time around and it’s a very lovely combo.

_CH #75 Light Blue and Purple._001

This combo lends itself to so many options, and I had a lot of ideas for a card. As it sometimes happens, it ended up being an unusal card design for me: it’s a one layer and no embellishment card. I didn’t intend it to be a shaped card but after I had die cut the image with Reverse Confetti’s Pierced Round Top die, I couldn’t find.a card base that really pleased me, so I created an arched card.

The inspiration for the card came from Gina K–an older card she created to put behind a beautiful window frame. I have just one window frame, but it hid too much of the design. After ink blending a panel with one of Pinkfresh Studio’s new inks, Hydrangea and Concord & 9th’s Harbor inks, I stamped the silhouette from Gina K’s Friendly Silhouettes. Although I’ve used the florals in this set, I never used this lovely stand of trees.

The sentiment is from The Greetery’s Arched Sentiments. I’m a real fan of Betsy’s choice of fonts when it comes to her sentiment designs, and this is no exception.

I’m sending this to Seize the Birthday challenge where the Topping is: Add a Sky.

  1. Such a pretty scene you’ve created here Karen. Love the silhouetted trees against the early morning sky and your decision to not go with the window frame die cut was I think, the right one. The arched panel really catches the eye. 🙂

  2. Beautiful card & it could be used for any sentiment. I’ve just purchased a die that cuts rounded window like shapes – you’ve inspired me to get a move on & create with this die.

  3. I think the arched card enhances the whole design, Karen. Your ink blending turned out beautifully and using the black silhouette design was brilliant! Such a gorgeous card!

  4. Karen, this blended sky is just so flawless and beautiful and allows a perfect background for your tree silhouette. Thanks for having me as GD on Color Hues.

  5. These colours are so pretty together and the tree silhouettes are stunning against them, thankyou for playing along at Seize the Birthday, Cathy x

  6. Karen your card is absolutely gorgeous! Perfect ink blending and I just love the silhouette so much. Betsy’s fonts are always lovely and I really like the shaped card using the RC die. One layer cards are not easy at all and this one is just fantastic!!

  7. I think an arched card is a great idea for showing off these colors, Karen! It’s a beautiful blend for the sky and the silhouette is a gorgeous focal point. A fabulous design!
