Creativity Boot Camp: Fly

  • by

The truth is I hate to fly. My family will attest I am not at my best on the day of a flight. I fly because it gets me where I want to go, but I would much rather drive—even across the country. That, of course, is not often practical and is, in fact, as expensive as flying. One way I entertain myself as we take off is to take photos. Once we’re in the air, I rely on compelling books (must be a page turner) and crossword puzzles.

I like the horizon and the deepening blue sky in this one taken over the Rockies on the same flight.

There was an inspiring post on Write, Click, Scrapbook this week that I finally got around to reading this morning. Since I had a little time before I went to the retirement luncheon, I pulled the photos from my photo walk into a template and finished the layout this afternoon. I decided against any journaling, but put the class title and date of the photo walk on the back of the layout. It doesn’t get much simpler than this.

  1. I love to fly – not necessarily the flight itself, but the going to see new places that I would not travel to by car because I can only take (at most) 6 hours in the car before my back goes crazy. Those are some great shots you got up in the air.

  2. Love that middle picture! The blues are so blue! I don’t love to fly, but it doesn’t bother me too much. DH Paul actually has to take anti anxiety drugs before he flies!

  3. Karen I seem to have missed so many of your recent posts … anyway, WOW!!!! The paint shot is just outstanding, I love how this turned out and the colour choice is excellent. I have not done too much flying in my life but so far it has not been a problem, I do like how you distract yourself and I love seeing other parts of the world that are not the typical shot.
The photowalk looked like a really productive session and the layout represents it very well, getting details down on the back is a good idea as sometimes they are distracting to a great photography based layout.

  4. love to take photos from planes – your ones are great. I don’t mind flying but have done too much of it over the last year

  5. I couldn’t take photos from planes…I hate flying so much, I can’t look out of the window at all!!!! A compelling book is essential.
I love the way you’ve ut together your photo walk pics….simple, but eye catching.

  6. Simple, but very effective.
I have never tried taking photos from a plane before, but I’ll certainly be trying it now

  7. I’m not keen on flying either – I get really het up at take off and landing – once we’re in the air it settles to a lower level anxiety! I do like the photos you can get from the plane windows (though these days The Children tend to claim the window seats, *sigh*…) – your shots are great examples of those lovely photos 🙂 I really like your layout, too! xx
