Bamboo Fun

Tabletw

For my birthday last May, Tracy gave me a Bamboo Fun pen tablet from Wacom. I opened it up, looked through the printed literature, and put it all back in the box. It really look intimidating. So when I heard Jessica Sprague was running a class on pen tablets, I signed right up. I took the photo on Monday, and you can see that the mouse was still sitting on the tablet. I’ve since put both my original mouse and this mouse in a drawer. It really hasn’t taken me long to figure out how to use it. Tonight Tracy and I customized the buttons on the tablet and on the pen. I’ll be anxious to see how that all works out.

I also finally made a watermark (see above). I thought I wanted one with a flourish or some decorative design, but in my typical style, I ended up with “clean and simple.” I got the idea for it from a stamp Jennifer McGuire showed on her blog. I tried a couple different fonts, but I’m pretty happy with this one. I made both a black and a white version. Tracy bought me a set of actions from the CoffeeShop blog which apply the watermark as well as sharpen the photo. There are four versions of the action. The one here adds a drop shadow. It all happens like magic!

  1. A watermark is a great idea – I made one using a free tutorial I found somewhere but I’ve never used it ….. something to work on this weekend.
In my embarrassing ignorance – what is a pen tablet and what is it used for? I saw the class over at Jessica Sprague but had no clue what it was about. Is it the next thing to revolutionise the world of scrapping? LOL 😉

  2. Amy, here’s a link to the Wacom site. A pen/tablet replaces your mouse and gives you more flexibility and accuracy when you’re editing photos or doing digital scrapbooking. Jessica’s course description might explain it better than I can. Evidently the model Tracy bought me is no longer available as I couldn’t find a link to it. They’ve all been restyled!

  3. That looks intriguing! I like technology 🙂 (Unfortunately it doesn’t always like me…..)
I like the watermark, I keep sort of thinking about it and not quite doing anything about it!

  4. Of course I signed up for the class (having a tablet still sitting in the box after two years) but was away on business when it started, still playing catch up, so I haven’t even looked at it yet. Got to get on that!

  5. Mel, I started thinking about it over a year ago, tried making one, gave up, downloaded an e-book with a tutorial, tried again, gave up. I made four or five different ones this time before I finally said, “Good enough!” Reminds me of trying to break a bad habit. Keep trying, fail, try again, etc. until you finally get there.

  6. A watermark is an excellent idea and I really like the one you have designed Karen. I know it’s something I should think about too..I take my leaps in technology slowly so it might be a while in the making though!
