It’s May 1st and time for a new Color Hues Challenge!
This time it’s a duo of Red and Orange, and it took me awhile to figure out exactly what I wanted to do. Once I did, it came together pretty quickly, and I’ve decided it’s color combination that I like quite a bit—bright and cheerful! As I’ve been trying to do for the last several months, I used a beautiful stamp from Altenew that I’ve never used before.
The starting point was ink blending red and orange on the bottom portion of the card. Then I stamped one of the images from Altenew’s “Fragile Foliage” partially off the edge.
I added just a touch of color to the delicate flowers with an orange Staedtler Fineliner and die cut the panel with Gina K’s “Master Layout” die. Then I die cut the larger layer from red cardstock and added it to a bright orange card base.
I decided on a stamped and die cut sentiment. The stamped portion is from Papertrey’s “Wonderful Words: Thank You,” and the die cut from The Greetery’s “Sentiment Starters” collection.
Hop over to the Color Hues blog to see what our guest designer, Tracey, and the rest of the Design Team has come up with . . . and join in the fun!
I wouldn’t have been inspired by that combination but I really love what you have come up with! The positioning of the foliage is perfect and the overall effect reminds me of a cow parsley at sunset.
What great blending Karen, looks so hot and sultry, we could do with that at the moment as the weather is rather chilly for May! The little sprig is in just the right place too. 🙂
Your blending makes these color glow with warmth and boldness, Karen! I think your card really shows these colors off with style and beauty! I love the way you’ve used the delicate greenery in contrast with the bold sentiment.
Beautiful blend, Karen!! I love what you came up with!
The ombre effect works so well with these colors!
Beautiful, seamless ink-blending; a perfect background for your pretty foliage. Striking and eye-catching…

I am going to be a bit redundant here…but your blending is spectacular! This is a real beauty Karen. Love it!
Karen your ink blending is stunning! Love this beautiful card, there is nothing like a black silhouette on such a vibrant background! Thank you for having me as your guest this week!
Your card is perfection itself Karen! I love the ombré base and that fragile foliage stamp contrasts beautifully. The sentiment is a bit of a work of art in itself! Vicky x
