I have two cards to share, both inspired by current challenges which also gave me an opportunity to move one more item out of my NBUS box. The pretty little blooms were perfect for these challenges, all of which are among my favorite challenges. First off was Just Us Girls where it’s Die Week and they want a birthday card. Seize the Birthday wants “no stamping,” and The Flower Challenge (they’re celebrating their 100th challenge!!) wants a circle in the design. Here’s my answer to these three challenges.
I started by die cutting Simon Says Exotic Blooms from watercolor paper as well as a Simon Says Stitched Circles die. I used finger daubers to color the florals, picking bright and happy hues to celebrate some of the first warm days we’ve had recently. They just make me happy. It’s hard to tell but I very lightly ink blended a pale blue onto the circle before adding the flowers. Since no stamping is allowed, I pulled out my fave Memory Box Black Tab Sentiments.
I had another set of die cut florals, and remembered that The Paper Players are looking for pastel colors. The flowers are the same, but the design is different.
Once again I used the watercolor paper. I love the texture it gives to CAS cards. This time I die cut two of Pinkfresh Studio’s Nested Hexagon Blanket Stitched dies and layered them before adding the florals which I again colored with finger daubers. I thought this card needed a little something so I added three small gold pearls, and another Black Tab birthday greeting in a different font.
This card is also off to Seize the Birthday and Just Us Girls as well as The Paper Players.
Your CAS cards are just as pretty as they can be, Karen! I like what the textured paper adds to them. Thanks so much for playing along at Just Us Girls!
Both of these are CAS perfection Karen and just absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! I love the colors in both and the added texture. Thanks so much for sharing the 1st card with us at The Flower Challenge…we always love seeing your beauties!! Hugs. :0)
EEp! These are both soooo pretty and so welcome for this time of year, Karen! I love the warm happy bright colors of the first, but that pastel second design with the blanket stitched dies just takes my breath away! (Love that sea glass color!) Thank you for inspiring everyone to use their NBUS and for joining I.D.E.A.S. this week!📌Hugs, Darnell
These are both such gorgeous cards! I love the clean design and the flower dies look simply lovely! Thank you so much for joining us at the Seize the Birthday challenge!
You once again knocked card making up a notch (or two). Really pretty cards.
Karen, your cards are delightful and ever so pretty! The second one is especially lovely, with the pastel palette and Hexagon Blanket Stitched dies. Thrilled that you joined us in the Just Us Girls gallery.
hugs~carol
Karen, You are one of the best CAS card designers that I know. These are just as lovely as can be. I can see that I am not alone in my thoughts. Thanks for linking both these beauties up at Seize the Birthday.
Karen… adoring both of these wonderful CAS cards! Just beautiful. Thanks for sharing your beautiful florals this week with Just Us Girls!
Karen these are such pretty delicate flowers, so lovely!!
Both lovely (as if you’d ever made a bad card!) but for me the top one has the edge. So interesting how the same flowers can be used to create two quite distinct designs. I needed to do a double-take so see they were the same.
Two beautiful CAS cards, Karen. What a difference the color makes in the feel of each card. Thanks for sharing one of them with us at Just Us Girls.
These little blooms are so pretty, Karen! I love them bright and I love them just as much done in pastels! The circle is a perfect place to show them off. The blanket stitched hexagons are amazing and frame them so well!
These are both stunning Karen!!! I am definitely going to have to pull out my watercolor paper for backgrounds. Your color choices just make me happy! Thank you so much for taking on my No Stamping challenge not once, but twice here at Seize the Birthday!
Wow 2 beauties! The first card is a wonderful CAS design! Thanks for playing along with Seize the Birthday:)
These are just beautiful! I never think to color my flowers like that, but I need to give it a go after seeing these lovelies! You’ve inspired me! The layout is fabulous too! Thanks for playing with our color challenge this week at the Paper Players!
Absolutely beautiful! I so love your style!
Karen, you’ve created two beauties here! Those bitty flowers are very sweet and work so well with you very CAS designs. I love the colors you used and I am inspired by the nice texture from the w/c paper which, as you said, adds great additional interest to CAS cards. Thank you so much for joining in at both The Flower Challenge and the Paper Players! Seeing your beautiful cards in the galleries is always a delight and very appreciated.
