A quick post to enter a card in the current Less is More challenge: Black & White & Plus One.

Anyone who’s followed my blog for awhile knows one of my favorite color combinations is black, white, and red. And it frequently shows up in anniversary cards.

Love

One of the hallmarks of a Less is More card is white space, although it doesn’t have to be white—non-patterned, clean space— which in this case is black. The beautiful die cut and shadow is from Simon Says and the sentiment is from an accompanying stamp set. a simple heart and three white enamel dots and it was done. Easy, but classic, I think.

  1. Stunning card. I certainly am I believer of less IS more. I think your colour combo is perfect for any theme, any season.

  2. It’s amazing how you always know exactly how much/little to do on a piece. I love the font on this one, and the use of the two colours in the lettering.

  3. Fantastic card! I’ve been eyeing the kind of sentiment dies but haven’t bought any -I usually see them layered with vellum and haven’t somehow loved the look. But what you’ve done here looks amazing! I love how the white edges make the sentiment pop from the black base! Amazing card, love this design and the graphic look. Thanks for joining us at Less Is More!

  4. I just discovered your blog this morning and I am hooked on it…I love your clean and simple cards especially since you use a lot of colored card stock and a little bit of patterned paper with a simple message and a small embellishment. I also love living vicariously through your snowy winters, and I know that you get tired of them by the time May has arrived. I live in central Texas where our summers are as bad as your winters, and I also get very tired of hot, dry weather…it starts to cool off in October usually. I was very interested in the botanical garden in Chicago, and since our daughter and son in law live in northern Illinois, I plan to visit the garden this November…hopefully, the weather will cooperate. I also want to comment on your use of Papertrey stamps, dies, etc…they are one of my favorite companies and I feel that have finally gotten on their feet creatively since Nicole left. I hope she is doing well. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cards, photographs, and fun times with family and friends. Gratefully, Charlotte Hutcheson
