Time Out Challenge: Thankful

  • by

I’ve had more than the usual amount of time to create this weekend. The photos at the end of the post will explain it pretty well. Along with some birthday cards and Valentines which I can’t post for awhile, I have a set of thank you cards to enter at the Time Out Challenge: Thankful. It’s their 100th challenge which is quite an accomplishment.

Thankful

I pulled out two oldies—Papertrey’s “Brushed Off” and Winnie and Walter’s “The Big, The Bold, and You.” Just by changing the colors of the ink I came up with three quite different feeling cards. I used Hero Art’s Ombre pads, which I do have a bit of trouble with. Some look a lot more ombre than others.

3Thanks

I did add a strip of washi tape down the side of one of the cards.

On Friday, our temperature reached 50°. We’d seen warmer temps on Thursday as well, and almost all the snow had melted by the end of the day on Friday.

About 8:00 Friday night, the snow began and didn’t let up until mid-day on Saturday. Tracy was down and out with some kind of bug, so Matt came over in the afternoon to snow plow our driveway and sidewalks. He took a yardstick and measured 13 1/2 inches in our front yard.

Needless to say, I was home for the day—and most of today as well. Hope it’s warmer and less snowy where you are! Off to check out the inspiration at Time Out Challenges.

  1. Lovely bold cards. Wise move staying in with the weather like that. It does look picturesque though. I presume your son uses some kind of machinery to move all that snow.

  2. I love that delicate painted effect – very nice! You seem to have mastered the challenge of the ombre pads very here. I like that pink shading into apricot/peach tones especially. Cheering when there’s so much snow around! We have more forecast from tonight and I am not looking forward to the struggle to get to work tomorrow. So sorry to hear that Tracey is poorly and hoping he is better very soon.

  3. What a great set of cards! Love the bit grungy design and the bold colours! Thank you for joining us at TIME OUT!
Here no snow, but gray, sometimes wet and windy…(The Netherlands)

  4. Ah yes the weather – like the comparison photos. I do hope that bug Tracy has caught isn’t that flu one that is going around the area – it’s nasty. Sending healing thoughts your way.
Very nice collection of “thanks” cards.

  5. Beautiful cards – I’m with Alexa – love the pink one! We had nearly 60 on Friday and it went down from there. Back in the 20’s and we are expecting snow early tomorrow morning and again on Wednesday.

  6. 13.5 inches of snow! I shall never – well, maybe not anytime soon – complain again! “Sometimes Snow” is just the catalyst needed to spur one’s creativity…the cards are lovely and the ombre´ looks great.
    Cheers~

  7. You hit some winners with the Brushed Off set! Love that pink one! What a contrast in weather for you. It’s hard to grasp the difference when our west of the Cascade days are mostly foggy, cool or rainy, 40-50 degrees on average.

  8. Wow, wow…look at all that snow. This San Diego girl is jealous! On to your cards–stunning and brilliant idea. Love how you used that stamp set…I’ll be making some of these myself. Great way to use color. Thanks so much for playing along at Time Out.

  9. Well today we had a little snow flurry which lasted an hour or so and was gone by the time we’d finished breakfast out – it seems a bit pathetic now though it was pretty while it lasted. I’m not sure how I’d cope with the snow you get! Stay warm and I hope Tracy is over the bug he’s had by now.
