A New Challenge

  • by

By chance, I discovered a new challenge hosted by Penny Black. I don’t have a lot of sets from Penny Black, but I do have a few and used one of my favorites to color for my #30DayColoringChallenge, and my #The100Day Project.

I trimmed down the panel just enough to allow a the edges of the Royal Velvet card to create a border. This beauty is an older Penny Black cling stamp, “Botanical Notes.” I hadn’t pulled it out in a very long time, but it was perfect for coloring with my Polychromos colored pencils.

There really wasn’t any need (or space) for a sentiment, so this card is ready for whatever occasion arises.

We had a lovely, sunny day, a bit warmer than the last few. There’s still snow in the forecast, but by the end of next week, it looks like Spring might make a lasting appearance. I’m ready for lovely flowers in the garden, and butterflies in the air.

  1. What an absolutely gorgeous card. Your colouring techniques bring this flower & butterfly alive. I like the purple & green combo.
As for our weather, it’s cold & this morning the forecaster said we could be setting a 92 year old record for cold on Tuesday! I cannot wait to shed the coat, boots, hats, gloves … no wait that’s going to all be replaced with face masks & gloves …

  2. That purple with the fresh lime green is just luscious, and I really like the lettering addition – it adds a lovely sense of texture and depth. Having a card that’s right for any occasion is so useful … You could do a class for us all!

  3. I love Penny Black stamps too, although I don’t have alot of them. That one is beautiful and I love the purple and green color combination. The blue on the butterfly wings really makes it pop. Lovely.

  4. Loving all the shades of purples and blues with the green! What a pretty stamp design. I own a couple like this from Hero Arts but no PBs.
