Back to School

  • by

A very quick post to share a card I made for my three granddaughters who headed back to school this week after more than a year at home. They’re in Kindergarten, Second, and Fifth Grades this year. Yesterday was their first day and they were all enthusiastic about their first two days when they came for pizza tonight.

BacktoSchool

I love this (now retired) school bus stamp from Simon Says, and know at least one grandchild has seen it before. If these girls did, they didn’t remember it when I gave it to them on Wednesday.

I used a Simon Says “Diamond Pattern” die for the background and added it to a Summer Sunrise card base–the perfect school bus color!

I colored the bus with Copic markers, and fussy cut it. The sentiment is also from the same Simon Says “School Bus Messages” set. I added a small puffy heart sticker to make a trio of red on the card.

I’m entering this in the Inspired By: Back to School Challenge–with the inspiration being, of course, the back to school theme rather than the photo.

  1. Oh my aren’t they all growing up quickly. And yeah for being back to in class learning. Those cards are certainly a treat & perfect to celebrate back to school.

  2. Love the back to school picture with the signs of the grade they are going in. They look very happy to be heading back to school. Your card is great and I love the background die. It reminds me of tire treads and really makes the bus pop Beautiful here, Hope it is there also

  3. What an adorable photo of the girls Karen! So glad they had a good first couple of days. Your card is great, with that background giving a kind of ‘ta-da’ effect to the school bus! I bet they really appreciated the thought too. Vicky x

  4. The girls look so ready for school! I love that background (and own it) it reminds me of metal stadium stairs patterns and over the orange a perfect support for the bus! Enjoy your fall and life with your grands!

  5. Oh how CUTE is this bus and your design? I’ll bet they LOVED it, what a happy way to celebrate going back to school after all of this. Your design with the diamonds allows the bus to be the star, SO cute! Thank you for inspiring us @ IB this week!
