Breezy Blossoms

  • by

The night before we left for vacation, I actually found time to put together two cards. After using the Betterpress, the Breezy Blossoms were then colored using the accompanying stencils. This was all done so long ago that I don’t remember a thing about it. After die cutting them, I put them in a little plastic bag and stuck them in my “Work on This” box. I had dumped them on my desk, and before cleaning up to leave, I sat down and figured out two ways to use them.

This card uses a NBUS coverplate, Modern Design Blocks. It came as part of the August 2024 Pinkfresh Create and Connect event. I never seem to get to all the class cards, let alone the Make & Takes, but eventually I get around to using the products. I layered it on a mint card base, and then die cut two Nested Elongated Balnket Stitched Ovals, also by Pinkfresh.

I layered just one stem of the Breezy Blossoms, added a sentiment with a Memory Box Black Tab Birthday greeting, and three enamel dots.

This card also uses a cover plate that came with a Create and Connect event, the Stitched Octagon Cover Plate. Concord and 9th’s Grapefruit cardstock was a great match for one of the inks I used coloring the florals. This card uses a number of different stems grouped together.

I die cut two of the Pinkfresh Notched Corner Frames, bumping the top one up with some dimensional foam. Another Black Tab greeting and some enamel dots.

I’m sending these off to The Neglected Stuff Challenge blog as well as NBUS – these are a perfect fit! I’m also adding them to the February Pinkfresh Challenge where Anything Goes, and Seize the Birthday without the Topping

  1. You really are an expert with your dies and layering, Karen! I love how you managed to make your ‘work on this’ pretty flowers into designs look absolutely intentional! Thanks for linking again to NBUS when you get a chance! Hugs, Darnell

  3. Hello Karen, As for card number one, that is the coolest coverplate I have ever seen. I love the mint color background and of course the floral looks wonderful too. As for card number 2, you have once again used those cool Notched Corner Frames and made a stunning card. Thanks for sharing both of these with us at Seize the Birthday. As busy as you are you certainly get a lot of crafting in and I am thankful for that.

  4. As always, very nice cards. Random thought: that top one reminded me of the Wimbledon press conferences of the eighties, when the players used to be seated in front of a white trellis with various yukkas, cheese plants etc dotted around. I think it was meant to resemble a conservatory or something. Quirk of my brain but anyway, very evocative. 🙂
Have a good holiday, and safe travels!

  5. Lovely birthday cards. I like the name of your project container “Work On This” … I think I shall adapt for my 100 Day Project container. Happy adventures.

  6. Wow that fresh mint with the stark white is so refreshing and beams of Spring! Just lovely and that single flower is all that is needed. I love how you layered the second card; both are superbly done. Thanks for sharing them with us at Seize the Birthday Challenge.

  7. Wow, these cards are gorgeous, my Betterpress is certainly neglected, you have inspired me to get it out and use it again! Thanks so much for joining our The Neglected Stuff challenge!

  8. I need a Work on This box! LOL! I also need that background die but I’m guessing it was exclusive to the class? This is just beautiful Karen. Thanks so much for playing with STB!

  9. WOW! That backplate is AWESOME and I love how it looks with that delightful little flower and the matching color peeking through! The second card has a beautiful backplate too and I love how you’ve layered the framing and added more blooms to the bouquet!

  10. I am amazed at the lovely coverplate you used for the background on your card. I searched for it, but it is not available. 🙁 I tried to leave a comment before but it didn’t go through, so I am trying again. Also, a late thank you for sharing this with us at Seize the Birthday.
