I have a good friend who finds starting with a sketch an ideal way to create a card. I don’t always find it that easy, but when I saw the current sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch, I knew I wanted to give it a try.
And I knew exactly what I wanted to use—a Simon Says die that I’ve had for some time, but never used. It turned out to be a bit larger than I remembered but I carried on, and I’m glad I did as I’m pretty happy with the end result.
The die is “Hibiscus Frame” which I die cut from Neenah Solar White. Before adhering it to the white card base, I traced around the flower and then ink blended with Distress Inks on a separate sheet of Neenah cardstock. I trimmed that out and adhered it behind the frame. The sentiment is from Simon Says “Tiny Words.”
I added a bit of glitter to the stamen with a Spectrum Noir clear glitter pen.
Just beautiful!
OH MY that die cut has made a gorgeous base to work with. Hibiscus flowers always make think of warmth, sun & happy memories. You more than nailed this challenge.
Hey, lady, it’s about time you shared this die cut! I love how you colored behind it and added the bits of glitter and shine. While in SD our rv park on Mission Bay has a mile long circle to walk with hibiscus popping up here and there. My favorite bush is a the end and I took a picture every day of a blossom. This card is a beautiful reminder of those walks.
I think this is your best ever! Exquisite!
My turn to come by, Karen … and to say how beautiful this hibiscus is! The soft sponging gives it such a lovely gentle feel of the tropics … it’s gorgeous! Congratulations on your win at CAS(E) This Sketch with this beauty! Anita 🙂
