Color Hues #110

  • by

I’m the hostess for the mid-May Color Hues Challenge and I chose:

CH #110-Pink and Plum.001

It’s important to remember for this challenge that it’s a color HUES challenge, and let me tell you, I had no idea how many hues of plum I would find. Here are just three and you can see how different they are.

HuesOfPlum

I wanted something on the pastel end of Plum so went with the Paper Source hue to stencil my Pinkfresh Studio Magnificent Magnolia after embossing it in silver.

I used a soft gray ink for the leaves. I used Altenew’s Dotted Scales Debossing Cover Die on white for the background. After stenciling the image and die cutting it, I added it to the background with some dimensional tape.

The stamped and die cut sentiment is also from the Magnificent Magnolia set. I added some beautiful Iridescent Clear drops from Pinkfresh as the final embellishment.

As always there’s lots of inspiration to be found on the Color Hues blog by our Guest Designer, Rachel, and the so-talented Design Team. Please join us in the gallery!

One of my favorite challenges is the Seize the Birthday Challenge. I ought to have an entry every month (at the very least) but it doesn’t always happen. The current challenge is Flowers, and I was glad that I could add this card to their gallery.

  1. Your magnolias are, indeed’ magnificent, Karen, especially in pink and plum, with soft grey, a pretty embossed background and some bits of ‘twinkle.’ Wonderful inspiration for this delightful colour combination.

  2. OH MY GOODNESS – this card is stunning, it’s gorgeous – it’s perfect. Three shades of Plum Perfect!

  3. What a great color choice, Karen! Your magnolias are so elegant with the silver embossing and beautiful shading! Love that background too!

  4. Magnificent indeed, such a soft, pretty interpretation of the colours. My magnolia is now full of green leaf with the odd couple of late blooms on the tips but it was full of flower last month and it managed to avoid frosts this year too.:)

  5. I have to tell you first that absolutely love your color pairing Karen…I had so much fun playing with it!! Your card is absolutely beautiful and the blending on your blooms is soooo pretty!! I love how they POP against the embossed background too! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! Hugs. :0)

  6. First off, what a lovely color combination you have for us. I know the gallery is going to be overflowing for this challenge. As for your pretty card, the softness is so lovely and the pierced background is one I would reach for time and time again. Great job as always and thrilled to see you added this beauty over at Seize the Birthday. We love having you in the gallery!

  7. I love seeing the difference in color between craft company’s papers and I find inks can be the same way. What’s a crafter to do? Well, buy them all I guess so we have choices ha ha! Karen these colors are just beautiful and are so perfect for your gorgeous magnolias. What an elegant design you created with them. Thanks for the great challenge!

  8. Wow, that’s quite a “plum” range which gives me ideas. I love the embossed background with the soft florals.
