It’s my turn to be the hostess at The Color Hues Challenge. I chose Red and Black.
Since Red and Pink has already appeared as a challenge, I thought Red and Black would also work for Valentine’s Day which isn’t all that far away. Valentine’s Day was my father’s favorite holiday, and I have continued his tradition of sending a gift to the members of my family which means a fair number of valentine cards as well. Much to my surprise, I ended up making an anniversary card since I had not one, but two anniversaries coming up.
The card would certainly work for Valentine’s Day as well.
This is another of my pre-holiday purchases from My Favorite Things during a site-wide sale. I love this “Heart Tree,” and think it has many possibilities. This time I took just the three largest hearts from the die and colored them with Copic markers before inlaying them onto the tree.
There are two white mats and a narrow black one, all layered on a red card base.
The sentiment, embossed in white on a scrap of black card stock is from Pink and Main’s “Special Day” sentiment set—one I turn to over and over.
Be sure to check out the fabulous card by the Design Team, and our Guest Designer, Michal, and join with a card of your own!
Black and red is a very good colour choice and I love how you have used it here. I have that heart tree die and really love it, but for some reason haven’t used it much. Thanks for the reminder and the inspiration xx
I’ve not seen this die before but I can see why you bought it, so versatile. Your choice of red and black is sure to encourage everyone to join in, never mind Valentine’s day! 🙂
Very lovely, and very “you”. I’m certain these will be well received!
One of my favorite dies that gets lots of use. I know the red and black will be well received at Color Hues! Great idea and equally great card! Try and stay warm!
I love your sweet anniversary cards! That die is fab! Have a great week!
A very stylist card. Red & black are a colour combo that works for so many occasions.
Love it! (That would be the most appropriate comment, obviously.) 🙂
That’s beautiful! I love the crisp color combination. I love the tree too. Hope you are keeping warm . The weather has changed here, much colder the past week and a huge snowfall. More expected this Friday. Good to stay in and make cards.
Quite a versatile die and perfect for anniversaries! Red and black is signature for you! It’s an elegant, sophisticated look!
I love that tree die and what a great anniversary card!
These elegant anniversary cards look fabulous with the red and black color combo. I just love those little red hearts in the tree! Beautiful!
That’s a great die, and I can see how it could be used a lot – I’d need to keep a list of who I’d sent it too, otherwise they might get it in several different colours! This is a very crisp combo, and such a clever idea to take some of the left-over bits and pop them back in in a different colour.
Yes, the heart die cut tree sure would work for numerous occasions and I love your crisp and striking Anniversary cards x.
