It’s time for the next Color Hues Challenge: Blue and Magenta.
Since it’s now December (yikes!) I thought a Christmas card was in order so I pulled out another stamp set that’s been in my stash for a couple of years, and never used! Honestly, it’s embarrassing. But it proved to be just what I wanted.
I die cut the three ornaments and stamped them with Pinkfresh Studio inks (Sapphire and Bubble Gum) and then added a layer of Spectrum Noir glitter. I embossed the background with the Papertrey Ink Herringbone Impression Plate and “hung” the ornament with some silver cord. That was then layered onto a piece of magenta cardstock to create a thin frame, and finally to a bright blue card base.
I embossed the greeting from Altenew’s “Holiday Tag Sentiments” with Black Opal embossing powder which has a wonderful glittery appearance which didn’t show up well in either photograph. The final touch was to add some clear sequins.
Hop over to the Color Hues site and check out the creations from the Design Team and our fabulous Guest Designer, Vikki:
And please join us for the new challenge!
I love all your details, Karen, and how interesting that we both reached for NBUS. Your recent habit of thin frames is very effective with the magenta.
Perfect for the challenge! Top of the class!
The little white rim round the baubles is so effective in lifting them from the background. I can’t quite see how you did it!
Well, you and Vikki were on the same wave length for sure. I love the added texture behind the pretty ornaments and it’s amazing it picked up so well on camera. The clear sequins are perfectly placed too! Pretty card Karen.
Shame on you for keeping that fab stamp set in the dark, but sad to say we are all guilty of that at sometime.;) The ornaments are very striking in the challenge colours. 🙂
Looks like most of us were reaching for NBUS goodies for this challenge! Mine were ‘new-ish’, but in using them, I came across oodles and oodles of products that really need attention! Have to put a halt on shopping for a bit (maybe…sort of…*grin*). Your ornaments are beautiful and, as you’ve clearly shown, timeless! Beautiful in the challenge colours and, for that matter, any number of combinations! Glad they’ve made a debut!
