Marcia has chosen a very lovely color combo for the Color Hues Challlenge this time, Sage and Pink.
This is, once again, the second card I created for this challenge but it has a slightly different story than previously. I created a card I was pretty happy with, photographed it, but hadn’t gotten around to posting it. Then a day or two later I created this card:
This card was intended for a Pinkfresh Studio Challenge, but when it was completed, I realized I had used (once again) a sage and pink colorway. Clearly this color combo speaks to me. I like the card even better than the first one, so saved it for this challenge. It represents a lot of firsts for me: 1) I had never dry embossed using a stencil, 2) I had never foiled using a Betterpress plate, and all of the elements on the card are ones that I have never used before.
The Betterpress Plate, coloring stencil, and die are Pinkfresh Studio’s Amazing Things, and the stencil is Pinkfresh Studio’s Diamond Plaid. I used a new die from My Favorite Things, Elegant Rectangles, to cut the background for the floral. The sentiment was also foiled with a Betterpress plate from Spellbinders, Always and Forever Sentiment Strips.
The closer view shows how beautifully the Betterpress plate foils. All the inks I used were from Pinkfresh Studio: Sage, Ballet Slippers, and Sparkling Rose.
As always, you’ll find lots of inspiration from our Guest Designer, Amy, and the Design Team on the Color Hues Blog.
I’m sending this off to the Time Out Challenge where the quote speaks of flowers, to Triple B for Blooms, and to NBUS for all the new products and techniques I used.
Beautiful card my friend, we were apparently channeling the same energy. I love how although we used the same stamps our cards are also quite different! After seeing this beauty I realize I should have gotten the Betterpress die too because if worked amazing here. Dry embossing the stencil made for such an interesting background. Well done and so pretty!
Hi Karen. Beautiful card! Always fun to try new things and have new toys to play with. Great work! Loll xx
Until I read Tracey’s comment I hadn’t twigged it was the same set!! Never the less it’s a very pretty card and the subtle gold outline adds another layer of class to this already classy card! 🙂
Dry embossing with a stencil is a great idea. This is another beautiful card, in two of the most perfect colours – the gold on the leaves lifts this card to another level of perfection.
The embossing and foiling are gorgeous! such beautiful details.
Such a lovely stamp and card, Karen. I have yet to dry emboss a stencil and I am inspired to do so.Love your close-up photo where we can really see the gold foiling. It is going to be a pretty gallery as the DT has really done an incredible job!
Ohhhhhh Karen…this is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! First off, I’m so glad you like my color choices, and you sure have made them SHINE with this lovely, lovely card! I have never foiled with a betterpress plate, but it looks wonderful and I will definitely have to try that! And I love how your embossed background using a stencil turned out too! Your soft ink blending on the flowers and leaves is so pretty also…you definitely get an A+ for this challenge my friend!! Hugs. :0)

I do like that colour combo, and the finished effect has a very timeless appeal.
This is such a Gorgeous card, Karen!! I really love the dry embossing with the stencil. The shaped die is quite unique. Love this card so much. Thank you so much for playing with us at Time Out. Hugsxx Deepti
Your foiled and stenciled floral turned out beautifully Karen, and looks wonderful on the embossed background! The MFT rectangle die adds even more interest to your design. I love using press plates for foiling, I’ve never had a fail and quite honestly it was what sold me on the Betterpress system to begin with – 2 uses from 1 product! Love your card!
Look at you go with the new techniques!!! These colors definitely seem to suit you. This is beautiful…and I love that background texture.
Your card of firsts is gorgeous, Karen! I do love embossing with stencils and need to do it more often. Yours turned out perfect, which isn’t always the case. Thanks so much for your sweet comments on my blog–very appreciated!
Beautiful card.
