Color Hues #96

  • by

Julie B’s choice, Purple and Orange, for the first of October Color Hues Challenge sent me right off to find my Halloween die cuts.

CH #96 Purple and Orange.001

I reached for my favorite purple (Simon Says’ Royal Purple) and orange (Papertrey Ink’s Orange Zest) cardstock. Most of these images were die cut two or three years ago when I got together with two friends and used some of their Halloween dies. I die cut enough that I’ve used some of those for the last two Halloweens, and still have some left for more cards this year and next! All of the dies are from Papertrey Ink. The sentiment is from the Tricky Trio die cuts, and is no longer available. I layered three sentiment together, two purple and then the orange slightly offset.

The sparkly moon is from the Boo Black Cat and the three ghosts were stamped and die cut from Ghost and Ghoulies. I love their tiny googlie eyes that I found in my stash. Once I arranged them, I decided the card definitely needed something more, so cut a panel of purple and then used Spellbinder’s Stargazer embossing folder–just what it needed.

I’ll need a few more Halloween cards, but it’s good to have one on hand early. I hope you’ll join us in the gallery of the Color Hues Challenge. You’ll find plenty of inspiration from the Design Team there.

  1. Karen, your card is fa-BOO-lous in the most frightfully, delightful ways! Adorable ghosts, a starry background, a sparkly moon…love it all!

  2. Those cute little ghosts with their googly eyes are so much fun, Karen. Love it when I can get together with suitably minded friends and get to borrow their stash!! 🙂

  3. Awwwwwwwww…what a cute, CUTE card Karen!! I love the googlie eyes on your trio of friendly ghosts, and the sparkly moon and sentiment die cut too! Someone’s going to be tickled when they receive this awesome card my friend!! Hugs. :0)

  4. I truly love everything about your card Karen! That sentiment is awesome, as are the background stars. And the googly eyes. And I can’t NOT mention your little ghost photo decor in the background. Super cute!

  5. My goodness, Karen, your Halloween card couldn’t be any cuter! The ghosts are darling with the silly googlie eyes and I like the embossed stars in the background. So much fun!

  6. Karen, this is such a fun card, the ghosts look so good against your star embossed background. The addition of the goggly eyes on the ghosts is brillian! It ‘s even more fun you were able to use some die cuts from a crafty visit with friends. I always think it’s challenging when you stamp and or die cut things to use later with no idea in mind and the you put something amazing together.
