These photos were all taken on June 6th when we returned from trips to two garden centers. By the time the weekend is done, most of them will surely be planted. These don’t include all the annual packs we bought for the cutting garden: asters, dahlias, snapdragons, zinnias, stock, and gazanias. There are also astilbe, shasta daisies and some other perennials that have returned to the cutting garden.

One of four lupines I purchased to replace those that didn’t come back this year. This is the only one with a bloom. The others are red, and a wonderful mix of colors.

When this post goes live, I’ll be in Niagara-on-the-Lake with a friend for a weekend contemplative photography workshop with Kim Manley Ort. I’m really looking forward to it, and the weather looks like it will be very cooperative.

A lovely Five collection – flowers are often the best subject, they don’t argue with “don’t take my picture…” Although your Oriental Lily is nameless, it certainly is a beauty. Lupines I treat like annuals because I rarely get more than one, maybe 2 years out of one. (heavy sigh). Hope you have a wonderful time in Niagara on The Lake – it’s going to be hot & humid.

I envy you going on a contemplative photography workshop with Kim. I am still enjoying her book and working though the weekly prompts even if I don’t post or share my photos. I plan to make a book and put my photos in there with narrative.

They all look lovely. The lilies are fabulous. I like the idea of your cutting garden. Do you grow the flowers in rows like a vegetable patch? That can look so effective. Enjoy your workshop. I’m envious!
I always love your posts, and learn so much. I had never heard of gazanias before, so had to google it. I had seen them before, but never knew what they were called. I found a great site http://www.thespruce.com which is going to require further investigation. Your photographs are beautiful. It seems as if you have a large garden too. I always think it’s nice to vacation in the back yard, especially when you have a variety of flowers. Looking forward to seeing what you learned at your workshop. Happy Gardening.

Me too, I like the Asiatic lilies. Mine always get eaten and I’ve stopped buying them.
