Happy Anniversary to Us!

  • by

Today is our 52nd anniversary–pretty hard to believe. We’ve already been for a nine mile bike ride along the canal, and got home before the serious heat arrived. The rest of the day is pretty relaxed, but we’re going to dinner at a new-to-us restaurant for dinner. A little fancier environment that our usual–although I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s perfectly acceptable to wear jeans almost anywhere these days. My parents would be appalled. When I was growing up I had “church clothes” and “theater clothes.” I was forty before I was comfortable wearing pants to church! I’ll be wearing a dress tonight. 🙂

Tracy’s card this year is very CAS, but I hope he likes it as much as I do.

I started with Art Pop Watercolor paper which I love for the texture. It also has a slight creamy color as well. I played around with several designs, but finally settle on this: I die cut a panel with Gina K’s Master Layout 1 and then die cut a scalloped heart from The Greetery’s Nordic Hearts in the center of it. I backed the opening with gold textured paper from Michael’s and then added the heart.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink’s Larger Than Life: Love, sentiments, embossed in gold and die cut with My Favorite Things “Itty Bitty Strips.” I’ve owned the sentiment stamp for so long it was in with the sentiments instead of the NBUS box, but it clearly had never been used. I forgot to take a photos of the inside which reads “And laughter, and Happily Ever After.” Just perfect.

  1. Happy 52nd Anniversary, Karen! How could Tracy not cherish this beautiful card from you? From one long-time married woman to another, it says it all both in image and in words! I wish you many more happy years! Thank you for using this week’s I.D.E.A.S. Calendar and linking in the gallery to motivate others and for all your NBUS entries! Hugs, Darnell

  2. Sending all the wishes & joy for a very happy 52nd anniversary. Hope the new to you restaurant is a delicious success. A lovely card.
Funny you mention pants at church as several of us had a discussion this Sunday about the unwritten dress code for church – one young lady said she could tell the old church members (meaning Anglican or Catholic heritage) by what they wear or don’t wear.

  3. Wow–an absolutely wonderful card to celebrate a wonderful event! Congratulations on 52 years of marriage! Sounds like you’re having a great day and will end with a great meal. I still like a skirt or dress for church, but most women are in pants. When I was in college, we weren’t allowed to wear pants on Sunday–to church or after church! Kind of hard to believe now.

  4. Indeed, a very happy anniversary to you, and many congratulations for the day! I hope it continues as well as it has started. The card is just beautiful, and really classy.
