I’m loving the Night Photography class with Kent Weakley. I’ve learned so much in just the first three lessons. Our first assignment was to take a photo during the Blue Hour–that time after sunset before true darkness. Here’s a set of five photos I took the other night of the Rochester skyline with the time each photo was taken. The middle photo is the one I posted for the Blue Hour assignment.
Taken at 8:34 pm
Taken at 8:37 pm
Taken at 8:40 pm “The Blue Hour”
Taken at 8:46 pm (The sky is still very blue.)
Taken at 8:52 (The blue is fading. This shot was taken from the bridge instead of the park along the river.)
really cool Karen – I had heard the term “blue” hour before and never new what it meant! Great shots!
That’s really cool! Did you use a tripod for these?

Oh they are so good – love the one you chose, that would have been my pick too!
Oh Wow – never knew that. Must qualify for the world’s shortest ‘hour’ though LOL
That’s amazing,Karen….I’d never heard that term before…the one you chose is definately the ‘bluest one’.
Your photos are amazing, I am hoping to show my husband the course you are doing because I know he would love it. You will have to pardon my ignorance, Rochester must be more of a city than a town (Australians only get fed on a diet of LA, NY and middle America, we miss out on seeing the rest).
Stunning! These would make an amazing set of postcards – they look like something from the opening credits of a TV show.
My Slice card? I used the Basic Elements one which came with it and I have ordered Paper Reverie. The cards are quite expensive here – £35 or about $50 each, so I’ll be saving up before I buy any more!
WOW, amazing photos! I wish I could take photos like you! These are just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing them!
