Tips for Reading More

Gretchen Rubin posted Twelve Tips for Reading More on her Happiness Project Blog. Interestingly, I have already adopted nearly all her tips. Since reading more is one of my Intentions this year, I was happy to see that I am already doing some things that will help me read more. Another tip I’ve learned as well, is to set aside some time during the day or early evening to read, especially if I am reading nonfiction and want to remember what I’m reading. If I wait until bedtime, it’s too late for that kind of concentration.

  1. Love a photo filled with books 🙂 And I completely agree with your tip to read earlier in the evenings! When I read before bed, it gets fuzzy.

  2. Love your pic 🙂 And my husband would say, are there any tips to get me reading less? lol! I always have a book in my hand 😉

  3. Hi Karen!
I ordered ‘The Happiness Project’ from Amazon and awaiting it’s arrival.
Looking at the photo of your books… have several of them in my stack: ‘Sarah’s Key’, ‘Those Who Saved Us’, ‘March’, and just finished ‘Balzac and the Little Seamstress'(really enjoyed it). I’m currently reading another Geraldine Brooks book… ‘People of the Book’ (loving it!)
I always read in bed but I’ll give daytime reading a try today. It’s 1 degree outside plus windy. A great day to stay inside and read with a cup of Chai tea.
    Warm hugs,
    Joni

  4. My reading this year leaves a lot to be desired – normally I read so much during the holidays, this year it has been Charlotte Gray, a John Grisham, Andre Agassi’s book and one lovely one called The Sweetness At The Bottom of The Pie – it made up for the others!
