I need four birthday cards for guys by the end of the month, and decided to do the same design, with different papers and dies for all four. All four qualify for the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge: It’s a Guy Thing,” as well as for the CAS-ology Challenge: NBUS. That may seem a bit odd, but it stands for “Never Been Used Schtuff.” All the patterned papers on these cards are from new 6X6 paper pads that I picked up while traveling, and I’ve never used the “Sending” die or stamp from Simon Says.
There have been lots of cards in blogland recently with the design I used. I pinned this one by Laurie last month. On two of the cards I popped the panels out with foam tape.
Cardstock: Select White and Pure Poppy (PTI), patterned paper: “Stitched” Amy Tangerine for American Craft; die & stamp: “Happy” Simon Says
Cardstock: Select White, True Black (PTI); patterned paper: Kelly Purkey “Second City” for Basic Grey; die: “Wet Paint” (PTI); stamp: “Happy” Simon Says
On these two cards, I decided not to pop the panels. I like both ways, but I think the foam adds an extra element of interest.
Cardstock: Staples, Smoky Shadow (PTI), patterned paper: “Stitched” Amy Tangerine for American Craft, die & stamp: “Sending and Wishing” Simon Says
Cardstock: Rustic Cream & Kraft (PTI), patterned paper: MME Necessities: Wood,
die: “Wet Paint” (PTI), stamp: “Happy” Simon Says
Cards for guys almost always take me a lot more time than usual, but these went together fairly quickly. They’re all different, but I think it’s a great design for a masculine card.
Great guy cards! I always struggle making masculine cards, and you make it look so easy! 🙂
Perfect design for a guy.
It’s a wonderful design. Very clever and of course your workmanship adds to it. Very nice indeed.
These are wonderful Karen and as is usually the case, less is more. And, as Sian said ‘your workmanship’ is what makes them really special x
Love this idea for a card!
Definitely a great design for masculine cards. Fabulous job creating four unique cards using the same design!
These are all excellent graphic designs, perfect for masculine cards! I love them all, Karen. I’ve used that wonderful design before and, yet, every time I see cards made with it, they look fresh and new! I’ve never popped my panels up like you did with the first two, but I have to say I really like the way that looks!!
Thank you so much for entering the CASology NBUS challenge! You may have noted the CASology challenge this week is in collaboration with my NBUS Challenge #3 (which is just to use any NBUS), so I would love to have you link your entry there, as well! Have a great week! Hugs, Darnell
Perfect masculine cards Karen xx
A wonderful layout and you have showcased it perfectly. Thank you so much for joining us this week at CASology
I love seeing posts like this – you’ve really shown the versatility of that one layout – it can be used for any occasion by changing sentiments, colours etc. I think that’s the sign of a really good design! So glad you joined us at CASology this week!
A brilliant collection of guy cards, Karen! These have all gone straight into my CASE file! Thanks for the inspiration and thanks for playing along with CASology this week!
Welcome home! Great guy cards. I’m still trying to get back in the swing after my weekend crop.
These are all fabulous cards! I like the design. I have never tried this…but you have so inspired me…thanks for sharing.
